| DESCRIPTION |
| When rods are done right, they're a pleasure to drive, and this 1937 Ford hits all the right notes. Over $50,000 was spent on the build, which includes some very high-quality equipment and first-rate workmanship throughout to create a rod that works like a real car and offers all the creature comforts of your daily driver. The body is genuine Henry Ford steel, and the '37 Ford shape just never goes out of style. The paint is by House of Colors and is called Lime Time Pearl, accented by bright purple flames with a ton of metalflake. The effect is stunning in person, especially outside where the dazzling paint sparkles and shimmers in the sunlight. And while it may not be everyone's cup of tea, the other built-in details will most definitely win you over, especially when you climb behind the wheel. The interior is nicely finished and has a modern feel to it without losing the appeal of the original design. Pleather buckets give a commanding view of the road and are supremely comfortable for those long cruises. There's a full complement of VDO gauges in a billet gauge panel ahead of the driver, offering a very deco look that works with the vintage Ford's shape. In back there's a custom bench that's been upholstered to match, and folds down for trunk access and unparalleled storage capacity for cross-country drives. A/C, power windows, cruise control, a center console, and a powerful stereo system with an iPod interface make it as comfortable as a new car. Power comes from an exceptionally well detailed 350 Chevy V8. With enough chrome to build a fleet of Buicks, you'll be anxious to open the hood whenever you park the car, even if you're not at a show, and it runs so well, you'll never want to stop. From the chrome air cleaner and flamed valve covers, to the polished accessories, everything glitters like a trailer queen. But make no mistake, this car is built for the road and has been fully sorted. The transmission is a 200R4 4-speed overdrive automatic, and it spins a Ford 8-inch rear hanging on Posie's springs. The front suspension is a Mustang II setup from Fatman Fabrication, and both ends are augmented by fat Chassis Engineering sway bars. Ceramic-coated block hugger headers feed a brand new dual exhaust system whose soundtrack is provided by Flowmaster and terminates in a set of polished stainless tips. Billet Eagle wheels help give it just the right rake, thanks to 195/65/15 front and 235/70/16 rear tires. Hard to believe, but this car has been driven nearly 30,000 miles since it was completed, which is a testament to the quality of the build and the reliability of the equipment. But it is easy to understand how those miles got there-this car is a blast to drive. With receipts and a clean bill of health, this is a car you can drive anywhere with confidence. | |
