DESCRIPTION
Wow! If you didn't glance at the photos of this luscious 1964 Cadillac convertible and say, Wow! then please turnin your official Car Guy membership card on your way out the door. Beautifully restored in perhaps the most desirable possible color combination, this is the ultimate '60s luxury cruiser that lights up our showroom like a movie star. That bodywork looks about two city blocks long, and Cadillac was still clinging to the last vestiges of tailfins in 1964, making this car as dramatic as the Batmobile. It shows well, with straight panels and good alignment, all of which are emphasized by the black paint. The restoration is several years old, and the car has definitely been driven and enjoyed, but there's simply nothing else on the road that can compare with a vintage Cadillac ragtop in terms of making a grand entrance. The '50s were over, so the use of chrome was restrained, and it was again relegated to a supporting role, accenting details like the wide grille and very cool rear bumper with integral back-up lights. The actual brake lights are perched up high in the tailfins themselves, a cool touch that custom car builders have been borrowing for decades. All the original emblems are intact, but for a big flamboyant Cadillac, this one is as buttoned-down as a tuxedo and the effect is stunning. Speaking of stunning, the red leather interior is the ultimate choice for your black Cadillac. Flashy yet elegant, it is beautifully preserved with a wonderful patina that is somehow even more attractive than fresh hides might be. Plush red carpets with monogrammed floor mats are a perfect match, and the door panels show virtually zero wear since the restoration. All the controls are arrayed ahead of the driver in a wide, easy-to-read layout that would define Cadillac interior design for two decades. The original signal-seeking AM radio remains in the dash and feeds a rear speaker and all the power windows are fully functional. The black bodywork is complimented by a recent black power convertible top that stows neatly under a matching red boot. Cadillac's massive 429 cubic inch V8 provides effortless cruising and startling performance, with 340 horsepower and 480 pounds of torque on tap. With a muscular idle that suggests that horsepower is the ultimate luxury, it moves gracefully through traffic and can cruise effortlessly at supra-legal speeds across the wide-open plains. Finished in traditional Cadillac Blue, it shows signs of excellent maintenance since the restoration was completed, and everything remains in working order. Underneath, the critical components remain solid and rust-free, including the giant frame and original floors, more proof that this was never, ever a rusty car. A smooth-shifting 3-speed automatic is unobtrusive in operation, and the ride is, as you would expect, Cadillac smooth. There's a new exhaust system and four recent 225/75/15 whitewall radials on the original wheels and hubcaps. This is an A-list celebrity ride for the price of a two-year-old Honda Accord. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom. For more information, please call (704) 598-2130 or toll free (866) 542-8392.
