DESCRIPTION
In case you haven't noticed yet, wagons are red-hot. And nobody was building better-looking wagons in 1956 than Chevrolet. As handsome as their hardtop and convertible siblings, even the 210 wagons like this lovely Twilight Turquoise and India Ivory example were both sporty and practical. The bodywork on this car would make even a Bel Air convertible blush, and the two-tone paint scheme looks absolutely period-perfect on a wagon. Having it's original roots as California car didn't hurt this one and probably explains why it's so straight and solid throughout. Showing just the right amount of gloss and without the hard, artificial shine of some modern paints, the guys who put this car together nailed the vintage look, but thanks to modern materials it'll last practically forever. They also chose to leave the original trim and details alone, which means no finicky door poppers, no painted bumpers, and no missing emblems. Instead, you get a beautiful set of chrome bumpers, a beautifully finished grille, and a set of correct parking light and taillight lenses. All the stainless trim was restored as well, creating the perfect separation between the colors. If you haven't fallen in love yet, you aren't a car guy. Inside, the traditional with a twist theme continues, featuring gray fabric and vinyl upholstery that looks updated, but uses a vintage pattern. The door panels combine the same materials for a very OEM look, and the gray carpets anchor everything and are excellent at hiding dirt. The original dash, gauges, steering wheel, and radio remain in place, augmented by a nicely installed brand new Vintage A/C stystem. Performance fans will be pleased to note the Hurst cue ball shifter, which gives the wagon an old-school performance flair. In back, the cargo bay has also been fully upholstered with matching gray carpet, and items like the lift struts and tailgate support wires were replaced during the restoration, correcting these typically trouble-prone items. If you need a rod that can do it all, here it is. The engine is a warmed-over 283 that is a tidy fit in the 210's engine bay. With a mild cam managing the valves, it has a healthy idle and pulls harder than even the hottest original engine in 1956. Dress-up includes a bright chrome air cleaner and matching valve covers, as well as correct Chevy Orange paint on the block and heads. Other upgrades include an Edelbrock intake, Holley carburetor, a dual power master cylinder, alternator, as well as the Vintage A/C system I mentioned earlier. A set of block-hugger headers dump into a dual exhaust with Flowmasters, and there's a 10-bolt rear out back full of 3.36 gears to make this a comfortable highway cruiser. Traditional chrome Cragar mags with spinners wear white-letter radials, the lone giveaway that this wagon is something special. If you grew up thinking wagons were dorky, guess again. Today they're the coolest rides around, and when they're as clean and well-dressed as this 210, it's easy to see the value. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
