DESCRIPTION
For many fans, 1971 was the final year of the GTO. Yes, there were GTOs after that, but the '71 models were the last stand-alone models, and the last to carry any serious blasting powder under the hood. This particular GTO hardtop, dressed in extremely rare Castillian Bronze, is nicely restored, fully numbers-matching, and carries a complete documentation package from PHS. Only 9497 GTO hardtops were built in 1971, making them fairly rare today. The GTO got a facelift for 1971 as well, featuring an all-new Endura front bumper and a new hood with forward-facing ram air ducts at the leading edge, and nobody could say the effect wasn't stunning. This car's finish work is top-notch, showing some age now that it's a few years old, but this is still a car that you can drive and show proudly, and it may still be competitive at local shows. Reproduced in two-stage urethane, the Castillian Bronze finish is back in fashion here in the second decade of the 21st century, and you've probably spotted similar colors on new Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW vehicles. On the vintage GTO, it looks spectacular, and the car's combination of great finish work and crisp detailing makes it stand out in the sea of Carousel Red Goats out there. If you're like me, you're totally over orange. THIS car is where it's at. Code 264 Sienna interiors were incredibly rare in '71, but it works perfectly with the Castillian Bronze paint. Somehow they found fresh seat covers, correctly colored carpets, and managed to restore the dash pad to new condition while matching this unusual color perfectly. As a testament to the quality of the work, check out how well the seats match the door panels and center console, both of which appear to be original. Gauges are clean and fully functional, and nobody used machine-turned panels better than Pontiac. Factory A/C is included in this high-end GTO, as is a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit built into the dash in the original location. The numbers-matching 400 cubic inch V8 under the hood is rated at an even 300 horsepower and a very impressive 400 pounds of torque, good enough for 14-second quarter mile passes-not too shabby for an emissions-legal powerplant! This one wears a coat of correct Pontiac Turquoise paint, dual snorkel air cleaner with chrome lid, chrome valve covers, and a proper Quadrajet carburetor. Interestingly enough, this one got power steering and A/C, but no power brakes, which is quite rare. A TH400 3-speed automatic handles the gears, and drives a 10-bolt rear full of 3.23 gears for easy highway cruising. And there still aren't many wheels more attractive than the Pontiac honeycomb wheels on this Goat, which wear correct G60-15 Goodyears. Documentation includes a reproduction window sticker, owner's manual, and sales brochure, as well as the PHS package. Still one of the most respected names on the street, this 1971 GTO delivers big block thrills at a very affordable price. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
