| While early Camaros certainly can't be considered rare, few modified Camaros have just the right balance of power, handling, and braking, not to mention creature comforts, that turn a good car into a great car. This 1967 Camaro is a great car. Yes, it's got a big block, but it also has powerful brakes, a subtle and unusual paint scheme, and a beautifully restored stock-style interior. First of all, it isn't Hugger Orange, which is a very pleasant surprise. The original color was Mountain green, but it now wears a shade that's perhaps closer to Tahoe Turquoise, along with a brand-new black vinyl top. But before that fresh two-stage urethane could go on, a whole bunch of new sheetmetal was installed, including the front fenders and doors, which were carefully lined up and fit every bit as well as the originals. However, that also means that the quarters are from the factory, and this is a very, very clean car with no rust in its history. A cowl-induction hood found its way onto the nose as well, giving this rejuvenated six-banger a bit of attitude, complete with an SS makeover. A fresh code 760Z black Strato bucket seat interior greets you the instant you open the door, and the quality is apparent at first glance. The seats have those cool silver inserts that break up the sea of black inside, and the detailing is deeper and sharper than most reproductions you find today. The center console houses the 4-speed shifter as well as a cluster of auxiliary gauges up front that are a cool factory option. Speaking of options, you'll also note that this is a factory air-conditioned car, and the modern R134a system in the car was recently serviced and operates perfectly. A new Sony head unit powers six speakers throughout the passenger compartment, along with a 12-inch subwoofer in an enclosure in the otherwise original-appearing trunk. Those '427' badges on the flanks are cool and all, but the engine is really a thumping 454 that belts out 525 horsepower. Using Edelbrock aluminum heads and intake, along with a Holley 4-barrel under the open element air cleaner, this big block is just as happy idling in traffic with the A/C blowing as it is going down the strip. The engine bay is finished for appearance as much as function, wearing fabricated chrome valve covers, polished accessories, and a coat of bright Chevy Orange paint on the block itself. Underneath there's a Muncie 4-speed and a new 11-inch clutch spinning a bulletproof 12-bolt full of 3.08 gears, which make this a very highway-friendly car. Long-tube headers dump into a custom exhaust system that features electric cut-outs, just in case the engine's regular voice isn't threatening enough. There's a Wilwood disc brake at all four corners, hidden behind gorgeous 17-inch American Racing wheels and a set of staggered radials.
