DESCRIPTION
Listen up collectors and investors, cars like this 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL are money in the bank. Most of you may recall when the 300SL look-alike 190SL was a $25,000 car like this, a day that was not too long ago. Today they're changing hands for close to six figures. Are the pagoda-roof SLs on the same path? I think it would be foolish to bet against them. The cars to own, of course, are the well-preserved ones, the clean, rust-free roadsters loaded with options. This car certainly qualifies on both counts. The finish, which is a lovely dark blue, is shiny and carries a nice patina from a single repaint in its past. Like all Mercedes-Benz vehicles, this one is built to the highest standards and even as a topless roadster, the doors open and close with a precision that is all but lost today. Gaps are typically excellent, and there's no evidence of crash damage or rust anywhere on or under the body. These are handsome little cars, as well, with a modicum of trim and perfect proportions. The familial resemblance to earlier SLs is undeniable, and few of us grew up without seeing them on the street during warm summer months. This is a wonderful car. The matching blue interior offers seats finished in blue leather and MB-Tex vinyl, and everything remains in very good condition. With such high-quality materials, wear is minimized and the seats show no splits or tears, and only the wear you'd expect from a car that's approaching 45 years old. The dash is simple and purposeful, with a Teutonic elegance that values function over form. However, that doesn't mean this isn't a luxury car, and it is loaded with options like A/C, an original Becker AM/FM radio, and power brakes and steering. The meaty steering wheel feels substantial in your hands and shows no noteworthy wear or sun damage, and the carpets are in presentable condition as well. A folding cloth top as well as a removable hardtop are both included with the purchase of this car. Descended from the famous 3-liter SL inline-six, the 2.5 liter unit in the 250SL is a spirited runner with a smooth, sonorous engine note befitting a car of this stature. Long tube intake runners enhance torque production, and the automatic transmission is a willing partner for in-town cruising or spirited driving down a country lane. The tidy, clean engine bay should tell you all you need to know about the maintenance this car has received, and it spins to life quickly thanks to a new Optima battery. Mechanical fuel injection delivers impressive performance and surprising fuel economy, and with regular maintenance, you can expect years of trouble-free driving. Brakes and shocks were recently replaced, and it rolls on a set of Michelin radials mounted to original steel wheels with color-matched hubcaps. Take this opportunity to be one of the smart ones who bought the right car at the right price. Call now! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
