DESCRIPTION
Before the advent of the small block V8, this was the car to own with a peppy Stovebolt six and plenty of room for passengers. This sedan is a lovely combination of solid original car and more recent restoration work. The paint was originally Horizon blue, which was lighter than the current finish, but seeing the contrast between the blue and white on this car, few people will complain. It's also exceptionally straight and clean, with well- executed body and paint work that give it a crisp, clean look that will earn second glances. The chrome and stainless are in good condition, with some re-plated parts and much of it in excellent original condition. The interior is nicely done, although not to original specifications, although the original seats, dashboard, and gauges all remain. The fabric is a bit more modern than what they were using in '54, but is comfortable and durable which would have made Chevy designers of the era proud, since that's what the cars were famous for. With a period-appropriate pattern, there are no rips or tears in the fabric and it shows only moderate wear. Original gauges are functional, although the speedometer is showing its age with some cracks in the lens, but reproductions are available. The trunk is finished with a rubber mat and a full-sized spare. Power comes from Chevy's erstwhile 235 cubic inch inline-six, which gave up little in terms of performance to the Ford flathead V8. The engine bay is tidy and clean, showing some evidence of recent engine work with fresh enamel on the engine itself. The original oil bath air cleaner remains in place, which is a correct touch-often these are replaced with cheesy parts store replacements. It starts easily, and drives extremely well through the 3-speed manual transmission which offers fingertip control thanks to 3 on the tree shifting. Like the engine bay, the undercarriage is clean and serviceable, but still offering a lot of originality that will give you confidence when you put it on the road. It also wears a set of 15-inch radials that are so new, there are still traces of the protective blue coating on the whitewalls. This 210 is a great example of the cars that were the bread-and-butter of American transportation in the early 1950s. With great bones and a lot of recent work, it can be driven and enjoyed regularly without worries. Call us today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
