| DESCRIPTION |
| Yes, it's a real code 138 SS, but no, it ain't stock-not even close. With a list of upgrades including a powerful 350 crate motor, a 5-speed manual transmission, and a full Hotchkiss suspension, this Impala was built to prowl the streets. In 1965, the Chevelle's proportions were almost perfect, effectively bridging the gap between the compact Nova and the full sized Impala and delivering one of the most versatile and desirable cars of the era. Of course, with that sizzling yellow paint job, you're not going to sneak up on anyone, but if you crave attention, this car is exactly what you need. Fortunately, the work was done well enough that all those eyes are going to have plenty to look at, and not many nits to pick. Gaps are good, and the finish is bright enough that we considered separating this one from the rest of the cars in the showroom just to keep it from fading the other cars' paint. OK, maybe it's not that bright, but it looks amazing in person, with a lot of effort being spent in getting the panels straight and the gaps just right. Nothing has been deleted, so all the trim was restored to match the bodywork, including fresh chrome on the bumpers, polished stainless window surrounds, and even correct Malibu SS badges on the quarters. And if you're a numbers guy, that '327' badge on the front fenders is a few cubes shy. The black bucket seat interior is so new, we were almost afraid we'd be the first people to ever sit in it. Beautiful stitching highlights the quality workmanship throughout the interior, and the freshly stuffed buckets feel like new. In fact, all the soft parts are new, including the carpets, door panels, headliner, and even the dash pad-it had to be new, because everything was originally code 741 Blue. Bright aluminum was the dominant theme of the '65 dashboards, and this one has been nicely preserved with an array of stock gauges and a white-faced Sunpro tach. Look closely at that shifter; note that there are five gears on the cue ball instead of four, compliments of the Tremec gearbox underneath. There are some serious upgrades underneath, including a crate motor topped by an Edelbrock 4-barrel. Dressed up with lots of chrome, including valve covers, air cleaner, alternator, and even the intake manifold, this engine runs just as good as it looks. The reinforced chassis offers a Hotchkiss coilover suspension with tubular A-arms and disc brakes up front, as well as fat sway bars fore and aft. The 12-bolt rear hangs on lowered coils that give the car just the right rake, and it cackles through a set of Flowmasters. The wheels appear to be Gen Two Camaro units, which is a cool twist on the factory offerings, and they wear 205/70/15 front and 215/70/15 rear Uniroyal radials. This Chevelle is simply awesome to drive, just don't expect to keep a low profile. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
