DESCRIPTION
Collectors know that the final year of almost anything tends to be more valuable, but when you're talking about the first generation Bronco, it's not just hyperbole. More than most vehicles of the era, the Bronco was a work in progress by Ford Motor Company. Each year brought notable improvements in power, options, and reliability, and this gorgeous 1977 Bronco delivers in a big way with a V8, A/C, and a rare color combination. Best of all, it has lived its entire life in the south, so it is clean and completely rust-free. Is this the best? It would be hard to argue against it. Restored using the correct code 2 Medium Copper, it's a color that is suddenly back in style and looks amazing on the Bronco's upright shape. With a contrasting white top and matching fender flares, it's one of the cleanest, straightest early Broncos we've ever seen. Gaps are excellent all around, and the removable top seals up well, a feat easier said than done with these older machines. You can see how crisp and clear reflections are in the finish, suggesting a lot of time spent block sanding the panels and a first-rate color sand and buff job when the paint was dry. Pinstripes and other contrasting highlights like the decal on the hood are all professionally done and crisply rendered, and, well, we're flat-out astounded by how well built this cool 4x4 really is. Even things like the chrome grille and stainless window trim is first-rate, with a bright shine that couldn't have been cheap or easy to attain. By 1977, the basic Bronco had evolved to a surprisingly comfortable cruiser, and the days of thin vinyl bucket seats and rubber floor mats were behind it. The seats are handsome and comfortable cloth and vinyl buckets, there's plush carpet on the floor which controls noise and heat better than rubber mats ever did, and this truck features factory A/C, an incredibly rare option. The original AM radio remains in place as well, and the only significant upgrade is a handsome Grant GT steering wheel atop the original steering column. The top engine in the Bronco was the 302 cubic inch V8, and this car carries a 100 original, numbers-matching drivetrain that also includes a C4 automatic and a 9-inch out back. Everything works, including the transfer case and locking front hubs for serious off-road climbing abilities. The engine bay is highly original and nicely detailed, with upgrades like a Holley carburetor and dual exhaust to add a few horsepower. Chrome valve covers and a matching air cleaner add a little flash, and it runs beautifully with a crisp V8 snarl from the exhaust. The chassis is completely rust-free, with a lift kit that gives clearance for those giant 31x10.5x15 Bridgestones on aluminum rims. This truck also includes an owner's manual, warranty booklet, and the original OwnerCard. This Bronco is off-the-charts nice, and this price will seem like a screaming bargain in five years.
