DESCRIPTION
This 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger is an awesome way to get into the old car hobby without spending a ton of cash to do it. With just 19,302 original miles, it's a slam-dunk for HPOF judging at any level, and an all-around neat car loaded with options like factory A/C and a set of Rallye wheels. The color is Dark Tan Metallic, and in case you haven't noticed, it's back in style today (just go down to your local Lexus dealer and have a look). That's 100 original paint, with a soft gloss and that typical Mopar shine that is endemic of the era. All the bodywork is, of course, original as well, with zero rust and no signs of previous damage. The original black vinyl top is exceptionally nice, with no signs of bubbles underneath or around the trim, and no loose threads on the seams. The chrome bumpers fore and aft remain bright and shiny, needing nothing than a buff with a soft cloth to bring them to like new condition. I don't know if this is one of those little old lady specials, but someone certainly took exceptionally good care of this little Dart, and it shows. The split bench in this example does a pretty good impersonation of buckets with traditional Mopar pleats and built-in headrests. It's also wonderfully preserved with no damage or even notable wear. Even the seat covers are still taut, with the back seat looking brand new-amazing for 40 years old! If you wanted A/C in your Dart, it was an under-dash unit as shown here, and it's a very rare option for a Dart. New carpets were recently installed, along with a set of embroidered floor mats, but everything else is vintage 1972. Open the trunk and there's a new correct trunk mat that fits better than most. This Dart uses a 225-cubic inch slant six, one of Chrysler's better ideas. Powerful, smooth, and surprisingly torquey, it delivers better performance than its 125 horsepower would suggest. This one has never been apart, obviously, and extensive recent service work and upgrades ensure that it runs like new. Tubular exhaust headers and a true dual exhaust system give it a cool snarling exhaust note, and an electronic ignition system ensures that it fires up almost instantly under any conditions. The engine bay is clean and rust-free, with beautiful inner fenders that have never been rusty. A Torqueflite 3-speed automatic shows quick reflexes, the suspension has been augmented with new shock absorbers all around, so it rides like new, and the brakes were recently serviced. Vintage Rallye wheels wearing fat 225/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials make the Dart a nimble handler, and they really fill the wheelwells for a sporty look. Simple, clean, and affordable, this Dart is a lot of fun for the Mopar enthusiast on a budget. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
