| DESCRIPTION |
| If you were a car guy in, say, 1967, this '57 Chevy is exactly the kind of cruiser you would have built. With a hopped-up Corvette motor under the hood, some traditional Cragar mags, and an original paint scheme and interior, it's a lot of performance and style for the money. Beautifully built and finished, this Chevy is ready for a summer of cruise nights, Sunday afternoon shows, and maybe a few impromptu races at the stop light grand prix. This laser-straight 1957 hardtop needs no introduction. One of the most recognized cars of all time, the '57 Chevy is an icon of car culture, and no matter how you build it, it's hard to make a mistake. Fortunately, the craftsmen who put this car together stayed with the original recipe-Tropical Turquoise paint, an Imperial Ivory top, and those gorgeous Bel Air aluminum inserts on the rear quarters. Bodywork is laser straight, panel gaps are very good, and the crispness of details like the wheel well lips suggest that great care was used in crafting this car. Chrome and stainless-and there is a lot of it on a '57 Chevy-has been fully restored. The front bumper, including the pointed Dagmars integrates nicely with the gold anodized grille, an option on the '57s that was shared with Cadillacs. The Chevrolet badge and stylized V (which symbolized the V8 under the hood) have also been gold anodized as original. The stainless body trim and window surrounds have been polished and smoothed, along with the long trim pieces along the tops of the tailfins. Glass is good all around, with no chips or cracks. 1957 Chevys received ten new interior fabric choices, and the top-of-the-line Bel Air was the only series to get the cool black and turquoise patterned fabric found in this hardtop. Beautifully restored to original condition, the front and rear bench seats feature new seat covers in authentic materials that are both stylish and all-day comfortable. The dash was new in '57 as well, although this one has been augmented with a trio of Sun auxiliary gauges underneath monitoring oil pressure, voltage, and temperature, as well as a vintage tachometer. The matching steering wheel is beautifully finished, and the bright metal trim that stretches from one side to the other is a nice connection to the anodized panels on the exterior. For the first time, all Bel Airs received full carpeting as standard equipment, and this one also features color-matched reproduction floor mats. The radio has been replaced with a modern unit that sits in the original location, and the dash was no cut or modified to accommodate it, so it can always be returned to stock. Under the hood you'll find a warmed-over small block, looking as if it were perhaps lifted from a mid-60s Corvette, thanks to a pair of finned aluminum valve covers. Dual quads atop a cool vintage Offenhauser intake supply plenty of go juice and give the engine bay a high performance look. Shorty air cleaners and a set of long-tube headers let the high-winding small block breathe properly, and it looks correct sitting there with a coat of bright Chevy Orange paint. A modern dual master cylinder has been installed for safety, and a chrome alternator delivers the juice. A rugged TH400 3-speed automatic lives behind the potent small block, sending twist to a 10-bolt rear. The chassis was built for the road (because nobody raced trailer queens in the '60s), so it's undercoated to control noise and temperature. The front and rear suspensions have been rebuilt, and it features drum brakes at all four corners, just to keep things exciting. The dual exhaust system features glasspack-style mufflers that exit through the rear bumper, as original. And as I mentioned before, it rolls on a set of traditional Cragar chrome mags wearing 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Take this car home and take a trip through time-not all the way back to 1957, but perhaps a few years later when cars like this were tearing up drag strips and cruising malt shops all across the country. With a strong-running small block under the hood, it can more than hold its own, even today, and the beautiful body and interior allow it to hold its head high when it's show time. Values on '57 Chevys are skyrocketing, and next to convertibles, Bel Air hardtops are the ones to own. Call us today and get your piece of yesterday. This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
