| DESCRIPTION |
| Few cars are more iconic than the early Ford Thunderbird 2-seater. This 1957 example hails from California, and is perhaps one of the best, loaded with every single option available and fully documented, including the original dealer invoice. If you're looking for a '57 T-Bird, THIS is the one to own. In an ocean of white and red T-Birds, this Inca Gold roadster will stand out from the crowd. Beautifully finished several years ago, it still looks brilliant with a sunny '50s glow that is simply stunning in person. Finish quality is exceptionally good, although this T-Bird looks highly authentic without that hard shine to the paint that so many over-restored cars get. The quarter panels are laser straight, and there is no evidence of rust in the usual locations around the rear wheel wells or behind the bumper. Panel fit is excellent, from the forward-tilting hood to the enlarged deck lid, which was new for 1957, along with the small pointed tailfins. Being a product of the 1950s, there's a lot of chrome, all of it restored to better-than-new condition so it glitters like jewelry. This is an awesome-looking Thunderbird. The code XK Colonial White interior has also been restored to show standards and shows very little evidence of having been used at all. A lovely soft, off-white, the upholstery uses original patterns and materials for an exact match. This car is also loaded with virtually every option you could get in 1957, including power windows, a power bench seat, factory A/C (which blows ice cold), and a signal-seeking Town and Country radio which works as it should. The wonderful engine-turned inserts that stretch from end to end give the Thunderbird a sporty demeanor, and you can't help but feel like a million bucks when you're behind the wheel. Black carpets help anchor the interior and keep it from being overwhelming, and they're protected by a set of white rubber floor mats. Overhead, there's a new black canvas convertible top that tucks neatly behind the seats, and a porthole hardtop is available (call for details). The optional D-code 312 cubic inch Y-block V8 is the car's original engine, fully rebuilt and dressed in the correct engine dress up kit with oil filter. Lovely finned valve covers are some of the most beautiful ever installed on a production car, and the chrome air cleaner inhales through the functional hood scoop. Finished in Ford Red, it offers correct hoses, clamps and fittings, with the only deviations from OEM being the modern fittings for the R134a refrigerant. This car also offers power steering and power brakes, as well as the crisp-shifting Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. A newer dual exhaust system features correct tips that exit through the rear bumper, and it rides on gorgeous chrome wire wheels wearing 205/75/14 wide whitewall radials at each corner. Documentation is extensive, including the original invoice, copies of titles, owner's manuals, receipts, restoration photos, and magazine articles. Early 'Birds don't get much nicer than this.
