DESCRIPTION
Like its newer siblings, the Ford F100 pickup is perhaps the most popular vintage truck. Handsome, rugged, and with a massive aftermarket behind it, it's easy to build a handsome Ford like this white 1955 example. With the right stance and all of its charm intact, is it any surprise that the F-Series is still winning hearts today? Maybe it's the combination of fat fenders and an already low-looking profile. Or perhaps it's that unique front end. Whatever the reason, this F100 looks fantastic from just about any angle. Built in the mid-90s, the original timeless design will never go out of style, and basic white looks quite good on the vintage curves. There's some evidence that it has been driven and enjoyed, but who among us could resist sliding behind the wheel if this machine was sitting in the garage? The truck hails from the southern US, meaning there's no rust or rot. Instead, what it has is an honest, high-performance look that is exactly what most folks find so wonderful about these trucks. A few details stand out, including the blue grille treatment, color-matched running boards, and that beautiful oak bed. Interior work was clearly done with an eye towards updating rather than reinventing the driver's environment. The original bench seat remains, covered in comfortable and durable fabric, and black carpets were fitted where once a simple rubber mat lived. That's an original dashboard, complete with factory switchgear, so it has a vintage feel, although the gauges are modern pieces with a suitably retro look. A custom oak center console was created to hold an actual Ford AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit as well as a pair of cupholders, and a 1950s heater hangs beneath the dash and painted to match the bodywork. A new tilt column was installed and topped by a lovely wood-rimmed steering wheel, and while it may not seem like it in photos, the shifter falls easily to hand when you're on the road. It's also nice to see Ford power in this F100, and the 289 is a neat choice. With a snarling exhaust note, the hot small block is vastly more potent than anything that lived under the F100's hood in 1955. Simplicity was the rule then, and it still works today, so all the things that break or wear out have been jettisoned, and instead there's a 4-barrel carburetor, cast iron headers dumping into a custom dual exhaust system, and a big radiator up front keeping it all cool. Power steering and brakes make it a pleasure to drive, and the original front axle has been upgraded to a Pacer setup. It sits right, with a great rake, and the Ford Ranger alloy wheels are a nice touch, adding a custom look with an OEM twist. You couldn't duplicate this truck for the asking price, and it's a bargain for a turn-key rod with a ton of eyeball appeal. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
